Maag Toy Foundation
The Maag Toy Foundation was started by Michaelle, Zack, and Al Maag in 1990. The objective is to bring smiles to children who are in need. The first fundraising program was a golf and tennis event at the Oak Brook, IL complex that was attended by 60 people and raised approximately $1,500. The program has grown due to the consistent support of family, friends, softball teammates, co-workers from Avnet and Molex, and of course, many sponsors who attend events each year in Scottsdale (since 1999) and still in Oak Brook. Today the foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization that supports children and teens around the world with approx $30,000 (Net) and 300 toys garnered from their two golf and two softball event efforts each year. Not one penny is for salaries.
In recent years cash and Toy donations were made to the Crisis Nursery, Casa Esperanza, Blind Children’s Foundation, Hinsdale Wellness, AZCEND, Angel Tree, Cornerstone Community, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Miracle League, Bikes for Kids, Fans Across America, Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley, Pathways for Youth and Child Crisis Center. We also helped individual families who experienced a variety of troubles and were not receiving assistance from any other group. And we love helping youth experience events we took for granted…MDA and Burns Summer Camp, Prom night program, Halloween costumes, Vet Tix tickets for military families, and kids went to see the Cardinals, Harlem Globetrotters, D Backs, Mercury, Cubs and Coyotes games and for some the first time. We were also sending children to school and helped a community dig a well in Africa. It’s extremely gratifying to now be able to add education to the list of things we can give kids thanks to you. And the number of children and teens we can help just keeps growing.
