The Maag Toy Foundation was started by Michaelle, Zack and Al Maag in 1991. The objective is to bring smiles to children who are in need. The first fundraising program was a golf and tennis event at the Oak Brook, IL complex that was attended by 60 people and raised approximately $1,500. The program has grown due to the consistent support of family, friends, softball teammates, co-workers from Avnet and Molex and of course many sponsors who attend events each year in Scottsdale (since 1999) and still in Oak Brook. Today the foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization, that supports children and teens around the world with approx $40- 50,000 (Net) garnered from their two event efforts each year. Not one penny is for salaries.
In 2015 we will be enjoying our 25rd year in Illinois and 15th in AZ . Last year donations were made to the Crisis Nursery, Hesed House, Casa Esperanza, Blind Children’s Foundation, Hinsdale Wellness, Angel Tree, Cornerstone Community, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Miracle League, Bikes for Kids, Blankets for Babies, East Valley Child Crisis Center. We also helped over 4 dozen individual families (some who work at Avnet), who experienced a variety of troubles and were not receiving assistance from any other group. And we love helping teens experience events we took for granted…MDA Summer Camp, Prom night program, Halloween costumes, VetTIX tickets for military families, and approx 100 teens went to see the Cardinals, Harlem Globetrotters, D Backs, Cubs, Mercury and Coyotes games to name a few.We are also sending children to school and helped a community dig a well in Africa . It’s extremely gratifying to now be able to add education to the list of things we are able to give kids thanks to you. And the number of children and teens we are able to help just keeps growing.
Take it from us, outings are a wonderful way to help the little ones in need. So by join us to play golf or just come for dinner. Actually, about 50 % of our attendees just come for the reception/program. So bring a toy…your investment will pay off in camaraderie, networking, and laughter. You’ll also be making a difference in the life of a child and that’s worth celebrating like an anniversary.
