Global Family Rescue

Al,
Hope your holidays are going well. I just wanted to thank you again for your generosity. I attached a picture of the type of kids that will start school in January because of your blessing. I will get you pictures of the actual children later in the year.

You probably received your receipt and it may have mentioned Uganda. We do a lot of work there but your funds as agreed went to Tanzania. That detail is shown on the receipt below the text. We value your contribution and take ownership and accountability of it very seriously.

Regards,
Craig

Crush Wins in Maag Toy Foundation 16" Softball Tourney in Arizona

The Crush from Chicago's Southside won the 1st tournament of the year in Tempe, Arizona today over Xtinkt from Yuma, AZ. NCAA elite 8 games, LPGA, 10 spring training games may have been on most sports fans radar screens but quite a few folks watched 16" Softball Hall of Fame pitcher Mickey Balestri lead his new version of Crush in 4 straight wins in beautiful weather. Star of the event was Darren Nepoti who had 4 homeruns at the right moment in 3 games. Short Center Rich Hennessey also contributed mightily. The team won $450 in the progress cash payout 9 team venue.

Dugan LaRose's Xtinkt (4-2)played solid all day beating defending champ Dirks Moving (after that had lost to Crush in the winner's bracket lead game) to enter the championship game. Dugan has 3 sons who are on the team...they were the # 2 team in 12" softball in '08.

We also learned the 2010 A Nationals will be Yuma.

"We are very proud we put on our 3rd great venue...with two umpires each game, raffles, music, Chicago dogs, fun and laughs, great sportsmanship and awesome defense. The main benefactor were quite a few kids who would get toys that were donated by each team. Arizona is the place to be in March, see ya next year," stated tourney organizer Al Maag

Note: This event raised $300 and approx 24 toys

9th MTF Golf Outing March 30th in Arizona
Our 9th year in Arizona was tremendous success with a record 210 people attending the event. Those folks brought approx 300 toys and brought their pocket books. The dust has not settled but we believe we garnered over $30,000 profit that will be turned into toys !!!. Our first to receive the benefits of that program were our 2 guest speakers...Lindsay Hughey from Blankets for Babies and Michael Young and Sierra a beautiful dog who helps kids recover at PHX Children's Hospital. And we love helping teens experience events we took for granted…Patti Teter's Prom night charity also received funds for dresses.

Approx 90 golfers took to the links and Ed Kamin's (MIke DeOrio, Sean Valcamp, Chris Crosby) ringers again won the event beating Paul Benge's ringers...120 people came to hear Pete Gitlin's group and spend money on auction items and the raffle.

The big prize was Southwest Airlines tickets anywhere.

A few other highlights were Sunstate Mechanical giving us an air conditioner to sell, Hearst an online ad program valued at $10,000 that was bought by Avnet EM for $4000, our pro Corey La Russo took everyone's money again for MTF on a par 3, and lastly our lady that helps us garner all the hotel donations, Jody Bogoshian from Helms Briscoe was given a gift from Tiffany as a thank you.

And as in the past the toys we collected were given to the Hacienda De Los Angeles with the bulk being dropped of by my co MC Richard Black and I to the Crisis Nursery the next day. Our brochure is shown...with all our sponsors listed.

Big thanks to all the folks and companies who donated items;

Maple Street Wins 1st 16" tourney in 2010 in Arizona

It was a perfect day for 16 inch softball in Tempe, AZ.. Maple Street went on defeated beating OZ in title game 5-1 of the 5th annual Maag Toy Foundation Tournament. As important, we collected dozens of toys. All net proceeds go to buying sports tickets and toys for kids in local shelters.

It was zero zero going into the 4th. Until a two hit scored a runner on third waking up the tired teams. Cash was on the line in every game in this progressive tourney. The top 3 teams were from Yuma, AZ. In 3rd was Chunky, from PHX Rhoades Trucking, Fore Love of Golf, Maag Toy Foundation team came in 4th - 6th in 12 team event. The big surprise was the winter rusty Monsters (many from last years title team Crush) from Chicago lost two straight to AZ teams. But we thank all 4 teams from out of town for coming

"I've been running these tourneys for awhile and the interest in big ball is certainly increasing as is the caliber of play. There are 7 teams here that can compete for A nationals if there was a real national tournament. Too bad they are split this year I know the folks here are upset about that" noted Al Maag.

    Liberty School in Chicago

Lindsey Lurie is a teacher at the Liberty School in Chicago. Many kids needed jackets, gloves, hats, and scarves, not just toys. The Maag Toy Foundation was able to help with that too.
